Sport’s Sonsolidating Mission: Donetsk Region Paralympics’ achievements

Abstract

The article attempts to study consolidating functions of sport as a part of modern mass culture. It is noted that sport became the phenomenon of universal scope and human culture expanding the limits of cross-cultural interactions. It spreads humanistic, democratic and tolerant positions of the modern world. The article analyzes Donetsk region Paralympics swimmers’ achievements, which glorify our country, have powerful potential of society’s building, facilitate civilizational progress of Ukraine, demonstrate the transformation of government’s social policies and a shift in the attitude of society to a person, especially, to a person with special needs. It is concluded that Donetsk region Paralympics create positive image of the region and the country, contributing to a sense of pride for Ukrainians and Ukrainian state.
