Abstract
Abstract. This article provides a theoretical and methodological justification for innovative approaches in the philosophy of science to the study of the identity of multi-ethnic communities in the context of full-scale war. The relevance of the study stems from the profound transformations of the sociocultural space caused by migration processes, the breakdown of established social ties, and the threats of cultural homogenization. Particular attention is paid to understanding identity as an open, nonlinear system that transforms under the influence of crisis factors while retaining the potential for self-renewal and adaptation. In this context, it is important to consider the experience of war as a factor that not only destroys social structures but also stimulates the formation of new forms of solidarity and collective self-awareness.
The proposed interdisciplinary methodology integrates tools from the philosophy of science, social anthropology, memory studies, as well as systemic and axiological approaches, allowing for the interpretation of identity as a dynamic ecosystem of meanings, values, and practices of social interaction. Additionally, the study justifies the use of a comprehensive analytical approach that combines macro- and micro-level analysis of social processes, enabling a deeper understanding of the mechanisms of identity formation and transformation. This approach provides a more holistic view of sociocultural changes in crisis conditions.
The study develops a multilevel model of identity that functions as a mechanism for ensuring social resilience, adaptation, and integration without losing cultural diversity. A polyethnic city is established as a relevant methodological unit of analysis, reflecting the complex processes of interaction among various ethnocultural groups in crisis conditions. Using the example of the multi-ethnic community of Melitopol, it is demonstrated that identity in such environments acquires characteristics of resilience and serves as an important factor in community consolidation. It has been established that the preservation of cultural diversity is not only a consequence of historical development but also an active strategy for social survival and resistance.
The study’s findings expand contemporary theoretical approaches to analyzing identity in the context of sociocultural crises and war, and also have practical significance for shaping policies on the integration of internally displaced persons, the restoration of de-occupied territories, and the preservation of cultural diversity. The proposed approaches can be used in further interdisciplinary research, as well as in public administration and humanitarian policy practices aimed at strengthening social cohesion.
