World Congress of Ukrainians in the Context of Support of Ukraine’s Sovereignty and Inviolability of its Borders

Abstract


The article pays special attention to the Ukrainian World Congress (UWC), founded 1967 in New York, its activity for protection of security as well as human and national rights of Ukrainian; International recognition of the Holodomor of the 1932-33 as an act of genocide, the processes of democratization of Ukraine and its integration into European Union; strengthening of Ukraine as a state and the inviolability of its borders; election observation, social and economic issues relating to economic migration from Ukraine; promoting the Ukrainian language in Ukraine and in its diaspora.

The World Congress of Ukrainians is now facing to the new challenges such as the annexation of the Crimea and Russian aggression in eastern Ukraine. World Ukrainians actively oppose the calling aggressive policy. Diaspora organizations through their governments and parliaments demands an extension of sanctions against Russia, the release of all Ukrainian political prisoners, gives Ukraine its considerable financial and humanitarian assistance.
